The telescopic sight has an olive green anodized finish. The barrel, receiver, bolt and trigger guard have a dark parkerized finish. The rifle has a hinged floor plate and steel trigger guard the floor plate and trigger guard are secured with Allen head screws. The stock is fitted with a Pachmyr "White Line" recoil pad. The rifle has a fiberglass stock with impregnated, three-color, camouflage pattern. The receiver is fitted with a Redfield telescopic sight base and rings. The rifle is fitted with a heavy barrel with recessed crown. The rifle represents the intermediate configuration of the M40 sniper rifle used by the Marines from 1977 until the adoption of the Unertl 10X USMC Sniper Scope in 1980. This is an excellent example of a Remington Model 700/M40A1 Marine Corps sniper rifle that is fitted with Redfield 3X-9X Accu-Range telescopic sight.
